I used to do a pretty convincing Sammy Hagar, and my Frank Sinatra is spot on.

Scream/ Yell? Ha.  Those types of singers will develope vocal nodules by the stress on the vocal chords eventually.  Especially if they do four hours of consistant screaming / yelling if they do even a weekly gig.

I have been doing scream type vocals for several years now. I have had no issues with my voice and dont even lose it after gigging out 2 times a week. I noticed that someone had posted something about vocal chords getting whacked after a while, which does happen. I think that a lot of people who do this type of vocals are using their vocal chords TOO MUCH. As an extreme vocalist, I tend to use the throat 99.9% of the time. About the only time I use my chords is when Im addressing the crowd between songs. There are ways to do this without stressing out your chords. It takes some practice but I have found that it is well worth the effort. It also allows me to scream longer because it does not irritate my chords. At that point it becomes a matter of lung capacity. Experimentation is the key! I was having issues of fatigue and voice loss until I just experimented. It's different for everyone and someone elses advice may not suit you. Take some time and explore your voice. You will be glad you did!
